Cooperstown, NY - The Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard awarded their 2005 Service Recognition Award to team member Nancy Strongreen of Richfield Springs. The Mill’s annual employee service recognition banquet held November 17th at the Templeton Hall in Cooperstown was sponsored by US Foodservice of Pittston, PA. Over 65 team members and guests enjoyed a delicious dinner, celebrated a successful season, and honored one another with individual, often humorous, memories of the year. Special recognition was paid Duane Shepard for his 25 years of faithful service to the Mill.

The evening highlight was the award presentation to Strongreen. This annual award recognizes a team member’s dedication to the Michaels family and fellow team members, and for making the Mill a fun place to work. Nancy, the Mill’s most cross-trained team member, takes on each task with enthusiasm and gusto. She is always on time and full of suggestions for improving Mill operations. Her skills as a sales person start with her friendly approachable manner, love of the Mill and all it stands for. Bill Michaels, co-owner of the Mill, stated, "Nancy knows the value of team work and leads by example. She cheerfully takes on extra work and is very easy to schedule. If it weren´t for her accent you would think she is the owner."

The Mill team members, numbering over 35 full and part-time, enjoy other social events and training seminars throughout the year. For the coming spring plans are underway for a two-day motorcoach trip to the Niagara region of Ontario. During the winter the team will be developing new projects and seeking new products for readying the Mill to re-open for its 150th year in mid-May. Several positions for the 2006 season are currently available and applicants are encouraged to join the fun. To inquire about available Mill positions, contact Lin Molloy.

The Fly Creek Cider Mill, located just 3 miles from Cooperstown and 24 miles south of Herkimer, is open daily 9 – 6 through December 18th. For more information about this award contact Bill Michaels.
