Fly Creek Cider Mill’s Cookies Chosen for Governor Spitzer Party
The Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard was tapped by Governor Eliot Spitzer’s office to provide their famous Molasses Crinkles at this week’s post-inauguration party held at the EmpireStatePlaza. The Mill’s Molasses Crinkles were first introduced in 1974 by Jane Michaels who baked them in her home on Main Street in Cooperstown. “I remember Grandma’s house always having the aroma of molasses and ginger as she seemed to continually bake the cookies for the Mill,” said Bill Michaels, now co-owner of the Mill. “We still work with her recipe today.” Last week team members Sondra Croft and Lucky Stanton baked and individually wrapped over 3000 cookies to fill the order. “We are quite proud to be represented at the Governor’s party and were told the cookies were a big hit.” Other state food producers represented numbered 28, including Buffalo’s Anchor Bar, Dinosaur BBQ, Matt’s Brewing Company and Nelson Farms.
The Mill, now closed for the winter, will re-open in Mid-May for their 151st season. For more information on next years events and promotions visit their website at www.flycreekcidermill.com.
