Cooperstown Rotary Club presents “Waffles and Puppets” at Brewery Ommegang in September.

“Waffles and Puppets” is returning to Brewery Ommegang in September, presented this year by the Cooperstown Rotary Club.  The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 7, from 10am-5pm, and Sunday, September 8, from 12-5pm. 

“The Puppet People” from Albany, NY will bring stories to life at 12 and 2:30 pm each day.  Additionally, there are magic shows, craft vendors, face-painting, bounce houses, games, a balloon artist, and a book tent where children may select a book to take home.  Hot, Belgian-style waffles, other food items, and Ommegang beer is available for purchase for the duration of the event. 

Admission to “Waffles and Puppets” is free.  For attendees 12 and over, a $2 donation is suggested.  Tickets for the activities will be available for purchase at the entrance. The Cooperstown Rotary Club will collect non-perishable food items for the United Way of Delaware and Otsego County Food Banks.  Attendees will be given two free tickets for activities if they bring a donation for the food bank. 

The Cooperstown Rotary Club’s annual fall event is biggest fundraiser of the year, enabling Rotary to fund a variety of programs and charities that benefit the local community and communities around the globe.  Proceeds from “Waffles and Puppets” will benefit local programs such as the Cooperstown Food Pantry, the Angel Network, Village Parks, and countless youth organizations like Scout troops and Girls on the Run. 

New to this year’s event is the Rotary eRacer: the Run to Erase Polio; a family-oriented 5K Fun Run/3K Walk which kicks off on Saturday at 10:00 am.  The registration fee is $25 for children under 12 and $40 for adults.  Registration is open now at  Race day registration is from 8:30-9:30 am.  The race begins at 10:00am.  Proceeds raised will support Rotary International´s global effort to eradicate polio in addition to support local charities and non-profits.
